Steve Shillingford “aka Shaq” DON’T ASK WAY!!!!
Alto Sax player
Steve has had a passion for music his entire life. Originally from
Detroit, Michigan, Steve was a classically trained musician
throughout elementary, high school and college. At age 8, Steve’s
father, a Jazz guitarist, introduced him to Jazz. Steve would spend
many weekend nights with his dad in smokey basements listening
to his dad play guitar in small Jazz combos. Several years later,
now a young teenager, Steve would set in with his dad playing Alto
Sax. Steve moved to the Northern Virginia area after graduating
from college to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Introduced to the Cover Up Band by bass player Rob Sukol the
summer of 2007, Steve was invited to set in with Cover Up May 12,
2007, at JW & Friends in Springfield and WOW, what a ride it was
that night! To all the band members, thanks for inviting me; every
time I play with you guys I learn something new. Its been great fun
and I hope to set in many more times!!!!
Steve plays a Selmer C* Mark VI Alto Sax with a Selmer S80 C*
